Duties: Drive and apply sport science research and process innovation knowledge to Applied Sports Research strategies and technologies. Serve as key link between NSRL and NIKE-sponsored elite-level teams and athletes. Plan and lead research projects defined by NSRL's internal research roadmap. Manage relationships with elite-level federations, teams, and athletes. Serve as primary liaison/expert to industry and partners on athletic performance, programs, and science. Serve as lead representative of Applied Sports Research at specialized events. Utilize sports science research and technologies to provide technology and content superiority for Applied Sports Research globally. Motivate and rally industry leaders across sports and regions for Applied Sports Research initiatives. Lead performance assessments of elite-level athletes and teams both in lab and on field. Provide reports and recommendations to athletes, coaches, and innovation teams linking demands of a particular sport to influence product solutions across footwear, apparel, equipment, and digital product innovation. Apply knowledge and experience of best uses of leading technologies and procedures being utilized at elite level. Describe to innovation community relative pros and cons of technologies and what information is key for staff and athletes. 20% travel required, including international.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Performance, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Science, Sports Science, or a related field (foreign equivalent accepted)
AND
Experience: 5 years' experience as a Sports Performance Expert, Performance Coach, Assistant Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach, or similar position.
Skills/Requirements:
5 years' experience:
1. Creating and implementing sport performance training programs at professional, Olympic, or international elite level;
2. Training and advising elite-level athletes, coaches, trainers, and staff to improve team performance;
3. Addressing global media and sport performance experts, including at international conferences to articulate sports performance goals;
4. Analyzing movement screening, physiological and biomechanical evaluations data, on-field performance monitoring systems and programs, and subsequent integration of data analysis into implementation of performance programs;
5. Disseminating technical elite-level sport performance evaluations and programs to coaches, athletes, and trainers;
6. Translating key principles of product innovation to improve sport performance of elite-level athletes and adjusting product innovations for consumer consumption; and
7. Applying elite-level performance research into insights that contribute to multiple programs within footwear, apparel, materials, digital innovation, and technology material innovations.
