AT&T has developed several innovative MDU, Hospitality and Commercial solutions, including the award winning DIRECTV Residential Experience (DRE) solution, the COM2000, Commercial IPad for Bars and Restaurants, as well as the D2-Advantage platforms. As a Sr. Specialist Product Systems Engineer you will be responsible for working on new innovative solutions as well as day to day Commercial and MDU product activities, managing technical product compliance, assisting senior hardware, software and network engineers on current and forward looking architecture designs, as well as providing technical pre-sale and post-sale product engineering development.  Our products are used across high profile industries which include all major hotel chains, most major league sporting organizations including the NFL, MLB, the NBA, and others, as well as leaders in in-flight entertainment for commercial airlines.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Work with product management, sales and marketing teams to architect an efficient and cost effective product offering based on business requirements and end-user market needs.

·    Effectively translate business and sales product requirements to technical requirements.

·         Responsible for definition and development of automation test tools in support of product qualification effort, including agile test methodologies. Tool development to include open source software automation platforms for both functional and performance testing.

·         Supporting technical product solutions currently deployed and/or under development by AT&T Commercial and MDU engineering teams. Translate business product needs or functional customer requirements to technical product qualification requirements in support of testing and compliance validation efforts.

·         Interact and manage third party technology vendors in support of product evaluation, integration, testing and qualification of product compliance with AT&T Commercial, L&I and MDU products.

·         Perform test engineering analysis of video/data systems in support of AT&T’s “video and HSIA” services, develop functional specifications, and produce written documentation, process and design diagrams for Commercial and MDU network solutions – as required.

·         Provide engineering product support and field trouble-shooting as required to assist Commercial and MDU partners with deploying and maintaining their solutions. The Product Systems Engineer shall raise awareness on issues requiring escalation and shall serve as primary technical interface to Commercial and MDU Field Engineering teams – as needed.

·         Develop product test plans, solution white papers, and help maintain AT&T SBCA certification training course materials

·         Support Product Launch activities including “proof of concept”, Alpha and Beta testing phase

Qualifications:

 

·         Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering or similar engineering discipline required. Master's degree preferred.

·         Minimum of 2 years working experience (can include co-op and internships, masters degree can be used as work experience). Preferable to have experience with technical proto-types or some product development exposure.

·         Knowledgeable/Proficient in Linux operating system, virtualization and  computer programming languages such as C, C , Java, C Shell, Python, PHP and JavaScript.  

·         Familiar with satellite communication theory, data network and communication engineering

·         Some experience with Cisco/Alcatel or similar switch networking technology

·         Desirable to be proficient in network diagnostic tools such as IP packet captures, and RF spectrum analyzers

·         Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

·         Must be able to distill goals and objectives and clearly communicate them to all.

·         Must be detail-oriented with abilities to multi-task and to effectively handle changing requirements and priorities.

·         Must be proficient in MS PowerPoint, Excel and Project.
