The Professional Apprentice® position is located in downtown Cleveland at our Corporate Headquarters. Position requires full year enlistment and a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week up to 28 hours per week.

 

The IT Professional Apprentice® position develops, integrates, and implements applications software in a service provider environment that supports the company business strategies and objectives.  Participates in the successful research, design, development, quality assurance, and implementation of web software applications. Works under the guidance of a Developer while learning how to implement software solutions for our business clients.

 

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

  • Actively work to obtain a broad knowledge of new technology, equipment, and systems.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Perform routine programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming standards, methods, and best practices.
  • Design application and database components for enhancements and small-sized development projects.

 

Operational Management

  • Maintain and modify web applications; make approved changes by amending application documentation, developing detailed programming logic, and coding changes.
  • Provide support for web application problems and issues.

Incidental Functions

  • Prepare and lead presentations as requested.
  • Research or prototype new tools and/or technologies.
  • Time and task management and reporting as necessary.
  • Interest in working with customers to learn how to build and formulate business requirements.

 

 

Position Requirements

 

Formal Education & Certification

  • Currently enrolled in college degree program and actively working toward a Bachelor (sophomore or junior  level student).
  • Graduation date on or after May 2017.
  • GPA 2.5 or higher

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Classroom and/or work experience in one or more languages such as C#, Visual Basic, Python, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, UNIX shell scripting, etc.
  • Basic understanding of relational database design and the client-server model.
  • Exposure to Windows and, Linux operating systems.
  • Interest in working with customers to learn how to build and formulate business requirements.

  • Competent in written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
