This position is accountable for the solution of complex problems and providing timely and accurate support to help resolve various issues and support existing and new product development issues and analysis.  This position functions with limited supervision and is able to independently design experiments with limited to no review. 

 

Responsibilities for the Staff Chemist include the following:

• Resolves complex problems, contributes to the development of new products/processes and maintenance/improvement of existing products/processes.

• Demonstrates significant knowledge and use of chemicals, raw materials, substrates and instruments.

• Establishes approach, design, execution and analysis of experiments and utilizes results in solution of complex problems.

• Employs technical expertise and experience in resolution of complex problems.

• Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external customers.

• Manages own work through planning, execution, analysis, documentation and application of results.

• Understands processes by which results are produced.  Generates sound data and conclusions, suggestions and implements improvements in testing, processes and product line maintenance.

• Operates under limited to no supervision. 

• Direct contact with other functions (manufacturing, marketing, suppliers, customers.)

• Plans (resource needs), schedules, execute work, analyze and apply results in solution of complex problems. 

• Fully understands processes by which results are produced.  Consistently produces quality work.  Strives for   improvement in all aspects of the work.

• May be required to help train and/or direct, check work of lower level professionals.

• Takes responsibility for ensuring safe operating procedures. 

 

Education Required:

•  Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or bachelor's degree in science with 2 semesters of general chemistry and 2 semesters of organic chemistry
