This position will provide support to the Technical Organization within the Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Division by contributing to the strategy and execution of various Technical projects and initiatives.

 

The core responsibilities and duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• Design and execute experiments, draw conclusions, and make recommendations

• Understands structure property relationships and can communicate this to peers and customers

• Function under limited supervision and be able to independently design experiments and write reports with limited, to no, review

• Accountable for contributing solutions to moderately complex projects

• Leads project update meetings, special request meetings, and customer, marketing, and vendor meetings and attends customer meetings, ISO, line, safety, technical meetings, management reviews, and seminars.

• Communicate detailed ideas concisely through written communication by writing technical reports.

• Comply with and displays knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area

• Travel for manufacturing support, application sessions, exposure series, field tests, and customer visits

• Attend sales shows and provide outside customer service

• Establish a timeline by required due date

• Train or mentor new or lower level technologists/technicians

• Adhere to company safety standards at all times

• Additional duties as assigned

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be at least 18 years of age.

- Must have a valid driver's license.

- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status. 

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

- Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone.

- Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.

- May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related field

- Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis

- Advanced math skills to accurately analyze numerical data

- Analytical chemistry and be able to extend it beyond the realm of coatings

- Knowledge of chemicals

- Organizational skills

- Able to adapt and change quickly in response to new situations/demands

- Design of Experiment

- Problem solving skills and abilities

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Degree in Polymers or Coatings

- 4 or more years paint lab experience

- DFSS
