Reports to: Senior Director, Accounting Operations
Location: Home Office – New Albany, Ohio
Abercrombie & Fitch is seeking a talented, motivated Revenue Accounting Manager to join our Finance and Operations team. The Revenue Accounting team is responsible for the accurate recording of all revenue streams for all company brands (Abercrombie & Fitch, abercrombie kids and Hollister Co.) worldwide.
Responsibilities
Broad responsibility for revenue accounting, including oversight of sales audit and third party revenue functions, which include accounting for store sales, gift cards, loyalty programs, franchising, licensing and wholesaling
Provide technical revenue recognition leadership, analysis, and support on the appropriate application of US GAAP
Lead assessments of revenue recognition and other accounting implications of proposed transactions, including alternative pay methods and franchise, licensing, and wholesale transactions
Partner with External Reporting team to support the development and execution of plans to implement the new revenue recognition standard; continuously monitor the impact of SEC and FASB revenue recognition developments
Responsibility for development of procedures for third party arrangements including new customer set up, monitoring credit limits, calculating royalties and other fees, invoicing, collections, and maintenance and monitoring of accounts receivable aging
Develop and support internal reporting requirements through completion of reconciliations, analysis revenues and transaction fees, monitoring of receivable balances, and providing clear and concise reporting and actionable insights to leadership
Work closely with stores and direct-to-consumer teams to ensure new payment methods are supported and meet financial requirements
Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations to support monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated and statutory financial statements (e.g. receivables, cash receipt and application, deferred fees, royalties, etc.)
Oversee company wide use of third party software (ReconNET) for transaction matching
Play a key role in the development, preparation and consolidation of semi-annual budgets and monthly forecasts by working closely with internal cross-functional partners and third party partners while utilizing historical data and trend analytics
Providing insight and analysis of financial results to explain variances, and satisfy consolidated and statutory audit requests
Maintaining an effective control environment over financial reporting and provide financial statement and control certifications
Lead, support and develop a dynamic, multi-national team ensuring each member is challenged and engaged in the business
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA and Big 4 public accounting experience a plus
Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and team-building skills
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in revenue recognition, preferably with a global retailer
Global Project Management capabilities - the ability to plan, initiate, monitor and implement projects within a team, as well as adapt quickly to projects impacting a team
Ability to immerse oneself to understand problems and propose solutions
Preferred experience with PeopleSoft Finance or equivalent system
Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to interact with all levels of leadership
