As a Category Analyst, you will work extensively with point-of-sale data, inventory and forecasting systems to support our Account Team operations. Key areas of responsibility include pulling, organizing and analyzing data to generate business reports, analyze promotional performance, manage inventory, build volume buys and forecasting sales. You will work intimately with several functional areas including the Account Sales Team, Marketing, Supply Chain and the Customer.
Position highlights include:
Work with Menards inventory system and Supply Chain to effectively manage inventory and forecasting.
Analyze and generate reports on sales data. Included are weekly tracking reports, productivity reports and ad hoc reports. Ability to continually improve and refine these reports over time by proactively talking to account and marketing team members to assess their needs.
Serve as the primary data and analysis support person for all requested Menards reports. Collect and organize intelligence on rebates, pricing adjustments, product and category tests, new product introductions, and promotions.
Serve as the primary data support person for line reviews, generating presentation slides and content to support the continuation and expansion of sales programs.
Use point-of-sale data combined with syndicated market research data to assess the effectiveness of existing programs and to recommend possible changes.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Bachelor degree, or equivalent 2-3 years of experience, in business or related field.
Demonstrated background in business analytics with a strong understanding of correlation and causality.
Strong and demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to learn quickly on the job.
Experience with problem-solving and strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal customers to define, analyze, solve, and implement solutions for current problems.
Ability to present to and influence others
Advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office)
Retail experience, especially in home center channel is desirable but not required.
