Doctors Foster and Smith of Rhinelander, one of the nation’s largest online pet suppliers, has immediate openings in the Distribution Center for temporary seasonal positions. First and second shifts and scheduling options are available.

Foster and smith offer competitive wages, including shift and weekend differentials. The temporary assignment is for a 4 week period from November 13 to December 10th in preparation for holiday season. Position Purpose:

 

Employee works within a team environment to pick, pack and ship customer orders.

Essential Job Functions:

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

• Scans individual totes with the assistance of a hand held radio frequency scanner then walks to warehouse shelving location, gathers & places retail products into the totes followed by sliding tote onto a conveyor line.
• Pulls totes from a powered conveyor line then scans tote’s bar code. Computer based pack program assists worker in verifying quality, quantity and preparation of individual retail products prior to packing into appropriate sized cardboard box. Shipping label is affixed to and packing slip, along with any necessary inserts, are place inside shipping box prior to sliding onto conveyor line.
• Inserts appropriate packing materials into shipping boxes then tapes it shut, with the assistance of an automatic taping machine, followed by sliding sealed boxes onto conveyor line.
• Grasps and lifts completed order boxes of various sizes off of a conveyor line then stacks them into a semi trailer.
• Assists co-works with workplace cleanliness and works in a safe manner in a fast paced team environment.  

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

 

This position is not a supervisor position but may require the training; coaching and mentoring of newly hired or transferred workers. 

Work Environment: 

 

Capable of lift and carry up to 50lbs;

• Regular push/pull up to 30lbs;
• Capable of: standing, walking, close/peripheral & color vision, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs/stools, working on second & third story enclosed work level, bending, kneeling, squatting, talk/hear and grasping;
• Work environment is a typical non-air conditioned 250,000 square foot warehouse;
• Air circulating fans;
• Ceiling height up to 40 feet;
• Concrete walking surfaces; and
• Noise levels less than 80dB. 

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent are desired.
• Basic computer knowledge, ability to add, subtract and divide three digit numbers, ability to read and write basic messages and verbally communicate to fellow workers and supervisors are required.
