Job Summary:

The Store Supervisor (Warehouse) is responsible to manage General Stores and Receiving / Shipping Dock operations.  This position manages UAW – JLL Represented employees and works within the agreed contract.  The Store Supervisor (Warehouse) manages myriad employee assignments and tasks under one classification, Service Attendant.

The Store Supervisor (Warehouse) reports to the Manager, Business Process.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Store Supervisor (Warehouse) carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; preparing / updating the training curriculum for each position in his / her area of responsibility; assuring compliance with the position / task training requirements for each employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  1. Supervises and controls storage and distribution activities for the site to ensure maximum utilization of facilities and timely distribution of materials.

  2. Interacts with Planning, Manufacturing, Packaging, Purchasing and Quality Control to coordinate receipts, availability, shipping and material movements to be used in the different areas, maintaining a continuous process flow.

  3. Administers operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current.  Creates, reviews and updates warehouse process and procedures including Business Compliance.

  4. Responsible for the receipt and admission of materials entered and / or removed from the Foreign Trade Zone.  Performs proper documentation to report shortages of Zone status merchandise upon arrival at the FTZ zone.

  5. Evaluates inventory on hand and manages salvage of damaged or used material.

  6. Support the evaluation and creation of methods and procedures for transportation of raw materials to processing and production areas and finished goods or other commodities from departments to domestic and international customers or distribution facilities to efficiently manage the inventory.

  7. Supervises the scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned departments or customers of arrival dates.  Notifies and investigates claims for damages or shortages in consignments.

  8. Coordinates traffic activities for the site.

  9. Assures proper documentation to discard material.

  10. Supervises and monitors good housekeeping practices, including warehouse, rejected area, and service yard.  Ensures warehouse space utilization and provide alternate solutions.

  11. Assists in preparing departmental budget and monitors expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budget.

  12. Initiates changes designed to improve control and efficiency of the department.

  13. Writes audit reports, documents audit findings and makes recommendations to Warehouse and Traffic Manager.

  14. Provides support on data evaluation, investigation report and in exercising sound decision making.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education/Training

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.         

Years of Relevant Experience

  • Two or more years of experience in a related setting or environment is required.   

Skills and Knowledge

  • Supply Chain experience is preferred.          

  • SAP is preferred.

Other Abilities

  • Ability to work in a UAW environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift 40 lbs., climb ladders.

  • Work in variable climatic conditions.
