The Workplace Design & Connectivity Communications Director will be responsible to drive strategies and campaigns supporting both internal and external communications. Efforts should serve as an act of brand inspiration, enhancing the employee experience but also supporting Nike’s external government affairs relations.
External government affairs communications relate to Nike’s real estate holdings, permits, physical work environments and shifts that may impact Nike’s relationship with external governmental bodies. These efforts require highly detailed management in partnership with the Nike Corp Communications team.
Internal communications to all Nike employees globally are expected to support WD C strategic initiatives conveying workplace shifts and benefits. Employee facing communications occurs on many levels. This role is responsible for developing a WD C messaging hierarchy inclusive of content and tactics to ensure consistency, creativity and reach aligned to our mission. Tactical executions such as maintenance notifications, only require a process and comms guardrails, however campaigns such as Biketown require more thoughtful engagement, execution & alignment to the broader messaging strategy.
Similarly, internal WD C employee communications are expected to convey the WD C strategy and guide SLT engagement through a variety of mediums. These could include employee email communications, organizational announcements, All Hands meetings, e-newsletter content and Yammer posts. The team is responsible to create content strategies as well as guide production in many instances.
Lastly, in partnership with Global Corp Comms, this role should own a WD C external communications strategy which refines WD C strategies into public facing messages and directs the forums (publications, conferences, awards, etc) for the senior leadership team or others within WD C to participate. These communications are intended to contribute to the global discussion on workplace and act as a point of attraction for talent.
As necessary provide leadership counsel and support through talking points, presentation decks and Q&A prep; aid CSR and PTW planning cycles by structuring strong storylines and elevating organizational narrative.
In partnership with Transition Management the WD C Comms org is responsible to support employee transitions to new workspaces and ways of working through employee engagement and various activations (inclusive of events, collateral, training, leader-led communications, etc).
Mitigate issues related to the workplace, partnering with Corporate Communications, Legal, Government Affairs and Environment, Health and Safety;
Spearhead digital prototype strategy to help Nike employees navigate global workplaces and services; currently a priority initiative being proposed through CSR across WD C, Global Internal Communications and Nike Technology
* Bachelor's degree (minimum) in journalism, PR, English, communications, business, or related field required.
* 10 years professional experience in high profile corporate communications or public relations roles supporting global brand organizations.
* Extensive knowledge of international media landscape and thorough knowledge of the needs of different media and communication tools for digital, print and broadcast.
* Management skills including strategic planning, budgeting, creative solutions and agency management.
* Proven ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis.
* Proven cultural acuity and ability to work within differing cultural practices and customs.
* Experience initiating and driving the ideation process to contribute meaningful, innovative strategies to the business at concept stage.
* High aptitude for creative thinking balanced against bottom line business needs.
* Successful experience working effectively at a senior level in brand management and a proven ability to provide guidance and direction to peers.
* Experience as a company/agency spokesperson preferred.
* Strong English written and spoken required; knowledge of second and/or third language preferred.
* Professional work experience in the United States and at least one other country strongly preferred.
