Duties: Research and develop products from inception to commercialization to meet footwear category team specifications. Independently design and perform computer software programming duties to be applied in computer controlled flat knitting machines. Program fit metrics, including pattern engineering, marking, and grading for creation and production of NIKE products. Collaborate with Marketing/Design Teams to translate design concept into 2D upper patterns. Conduct program research and development efforts, including yarn selection, structures, techniques, testing, and support. Analyze technical programming requirements for development on highly sophisticated equipment designed to create industry leading knitted products and components. Consult with product triad to clarify concepts and lend technical expertise to pattern-making and fit. Conduct program and machine testing, optimizing programs with respect to performance, efficiency, and reliability for production. Collaborate with knit center programmers in order to maximize program integrity and ensure product expectations are met. Create first models from digital concept images or pictures and re-engineer the programs as required by different pattern projects. Incorporate styling and fit changes determined by design/marketing/development/engineering during fit sessions or design process. Inspect and critique samples. Support adherence to seasonal product creation timelines. Create and/or revise product specifications with construction details in preparation for commercialization and production. Ensure specifications detail construction methods that optimize profitability. Mentor one junior-level knit programmer. Some travel to knit centers and manufacturing facilities.  10% travel required, including international.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Design, Textile Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related field (foreign equivalent acceptable). 
 
AND

Experience: 5 years' experience as a Knit Programming Training Manager, Sr. Knitwear Specialist, Knitwear Trainer, or similar position.

OR

Experience: 7 years' experience as a Knit Programming Training Manager, Sr. Knitwear Specialist, Knitwear Trainer, or similar position.
Skills/Requirements:

5 years' experience:

1. Working in yarn manufacturing and technical knitwear for apparel industry;

2. Mentoring at least one Knit Programmer, Knit Developer, or Knit Designer;

3. Working with manufacturing production sites to test, refine, and validate production process; and

a) Working with Stoll Software systems, including (i) M1, S1, or M1 ; (ii) CMS; (iii) working with Knit & Wear seamless knitwear programming; and (iv) Fully Fashioned programming; OR

b) Working with Shima Seiki Software using hardware systems, including SDS (Shima Design System), TDS (Total Design System) or SDS One; and working with Fully Fashioned and Whole-Garment programming.

All experience, skills and requirements may be gained concurrently.
