Operations and Safety Specialist

Position Summary:

SUMMARY
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist will be responsible for insuring compliance regarding environmental health and safety that meets JLL, client and statutory requirements.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS
COMPLIANCE
Provide compliance assurance with JLL and regulatory requirements regarding environmental health and safety.
 
SITE SUPPORT

  • Work with Operations and Engineering Staff to review and Job Hazard Analyses for defined tasks.
  • Provide construction and project EHS oversight.
  • Support the Operations and Engineering Staff to review JHAs and Contractor HASPs when necessary
  • Provide guidance and oversight of environmental recordkeeping and compliance supervision
  • Provide back-up support to Shipping/Receiving and act as a regulatory resource in collaboration with the site JLL EHS manager and client EHS manager
  • Work with operations and engineering teams to perform hazard (Risk) assessments and evaluations; implement risk reduction/mitigation strategies as appropriate.
  • Provide for EHS performance data contributing to account-wide EHS performance dashboard. • Assess and identify appropriate resources and equipment necessary to fully support EH&S objectives.
 
VENDOR COLLABORATION
  • Inspect vendor operations using prescribed protocols.
  • Collaborate with JLL vendor partners to assure they operate their businesses in compliance with JLL/Account requirements while on-site.
 
TRAINING
  • Conduct EHS training as required.
 
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
  • Collaborate with site JLL EHS Site Manager to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures required to meet all EHS compliance for the site. Drive implementation of EHS initiatives regarding high risk activities such as Confined Space Entry, Electrical Safety, LO/TO and Elevated Work.
  • Support incident investigations including root cause analysis if required.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A degree in occupational safety, safety management or relevant field;
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the implementation and management of EHS programs and management systems, preferably within facility operations.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Success working with subcontractors/vendors supporting mutual safety objectives.
  • Proven track record of success executing high hazard prevention programs; specifically: LO/TO, electrical safety, confined space entry and fall protection.
  • A proven track record managing regulatory compliance
 
ACCOUNT COMPLIANCE
  • Assist Chief Engineers and Facility Managers in completing their compliance workbooks for all relevant facilities. 
  • Work with client EH&S manager to coordinate and respond to on-site compliance audits.
  • Ensure account compliance with OSHA 300 requirements and incident reporting with JLL AIMS and relevant client systems. 
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the portfolio including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines, as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law.
 
ACCOUNT SAFETY
  • Account's JLL EH&S POC.  
  • Oversee the environmental and safety program for the account and foster a “Safety First” culture within the JLL and supplier teams.
  • Identify safety hazards within the account and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the portfolio’s staff and occupants work in a safe environment. 
  • Administer and manage safety training program. 
  • Ensure account's participation in the JLL Near Miss/Good Catch program.
 
ACCOUNT POINT OF CONTACT (POC)
  • Account SME for JLL iStream usage, idea submission, and best practice adoption. 
  • Account POC for CMMS, PEERS, iStream, Capital Projects, client specific operational initiative Enernoc (TN Electricity Management)
  • Account POC for technology platforms including management, maintenance, and implementation:  360, Corrigo, S/A/P Inventory Procedures, PEERS, iStream.
 
ACCOUNT COLLABORATION
  • Collaborate with other JLL managers to share best practices, develop case studies and develop new business opportunities. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation ability.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train.
 
ACCOUNT SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Advanced technical knowledge of building systems, data center, UPS, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc.
  • Extensive experience in the facilities maintenance field and following trades; steam fitting, plumbing, metal fabricating and welding, electrical, carpentry, Chillers and H.V.A.C. 
  • Experience with utility systems found in research lab and manufacturing environments (i.e., steam boilers, compressed air and vacuum systems, water treatment and air handling equipment).
  • Advanced experience with MS Office suite and CMMS databases.
 
ACCOUNT CERTIFICATION
  • Trade certification in Refrigeration, Boiler operator, welding, or other pertinent craft; Journeyman.
 
ACCOUNT OTHER
  • Must be proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and ladder diagrams.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Facilities Management with management/technical emphasis.
  • MBA, preferred.
