Key Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective EHS processes and procedures at PPG PMC North America operations including Little Rock, AR and the Boxborough, MA. Also, the incumbent will have the responsibility of the Distribution Centers, Sales Team, and Field Technical Service employees. Key responsibilities include:
Drives effective implementation of the PPG EHS Management System
Establishes programs and processes to reduce EHS risks and to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and PPG EHS requirements.
Partners with the plant manager to lead the site EHS Leadership Team at the manufacturing facility and establish leadership teams as appropriate for the laboratory, distribution centers and field associates.
Lead & participates in Root Cause Analyses of EHS incidents as required.
Tracks EHS incidents, specifically injuries and illnesses, and ensure complaint regulatory reporting.
Drives open incidents to closure which includes follow-up with investigations to develop corrective actions.
Advises and assists manufacturing department managers/supervisors with EHS training and the tracking of its completion and ensures regulatory compliance.
Identifies, delivers and tracks completion of all required training for field personnel.
Manages the Industrial Hygiene (IH) program to ensure monitoring occurs, evaluates results, and drives improvement actions as needed.
Participates on facility ergonomics team to ensure employee involvement in identifying risks through the use of risk assessment tools and implementation of corrective actions.
Assists facility in maintaining audit-readiness and regulatory inspection readiness at all times
Develop risk recognition activities to reduce at-risk behaviors across operations. Work with employees on developing a proactive employee driven safety culture.
Support the Process Safety Management program within manufacturing, to include participating on PHAs, leading key PSM topics, and ensuring continued compliance with OSHA PSM regulations
Manage environmental programs to ensure continued compliance, to include storm water management, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, and air compliance management to minimize liability and reduce likelihood or violations
Manages inspections for fire protection systems to ensure reliability and demonstrate compliance
Oversees contracted security workforce and manages facility security procedures
Experience and Education
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or Science with 5 years of Industrial experience, preferably in the environmental, health or safety area. Must have proven leadership and organization ability, possess good problem solving skills and be an effective written and oral communicator. Working knowledge of OSHA “General Industry” and EPA regulations strongly desired. Expertise in Industrial Ergonomics and familiarity with workers compensation and disability management is desired. DOT experience a plus.
