Travel Counselor

US Foods Inc. - Tempe, AZ

  • Creates domestic and international reservations for US Foods travelers and contractors to include air, hotel, rail, and ground transportation. 
  • Advises travelers of international travel requirements such as visa, passports, etc. 
  • Solves typical travel related problems consistently. 
  • Operates within detailed procedures under minimal supervision. 
  • Interacts with traveler or travel arranger, and provides 1st level of support for customer service and technical issues. 
  • Educates travelers on US Foods policy, preferred vendors, and requirements. 
  • Ensures compliance with the Corporate Travel Policy. 
  • Adheres to travel department standards in delivering customer service including telephone/email etiquette and follows prescribed customer service escalation procedures. 
  • Follows company procedures, guidelines and standards in building Passenger Name Records, utilization of tools, productivity, accuracy of work and attendance. 
  • Attends staff and training meetings for ongoing updates in the travel industry and office procedures. 
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma required
  • Associates Degree or higher preferred

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years corporate travel counselor/industry experience required; 5 years corporate travel counselor/industry experience STRONGLY preferred
  • Previous call center (travel agency) experience preferred
  • Must be able to work in US Foods Tempe office daily

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in native SABRE required
  • Industry knowledge and reservation skills in order to create domestic and single destination international reservations to include air, hotel, rail, and ground transportation
  • Proficiency with ticketing procedures to include processing of exchanges and refunds
  • Ability to meet and maintain required performance standards
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Experience with Rez One Plus and Quick Exchange preferred
  • Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work flexible schedule between 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM (MST)
