Human Resources Specialist

Books-A-Million - Birmingham, AL

Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources department. Assist in the management of software including Lawson, Taleo, I-9 Express. Coordinate information flow to all HR systems and write reports.

 

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, performs a variety of administrative and procedural duties that support the functions of the Human Resources department.

  • Complete all I-9 new hire verifications.
  • Complete all pre-employment Background screens.
  • Tract all vacation time for field and home office.
  • Using the Lawson system, enter new hires, make changes and updates and run all required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Using the Taleo software, provide support to field associates, reset program and perform other functions as requested.
  • Monitors HR general email and fax locations and disburses information as appropriate.
  • Performs additional support duties as directed by HR Director.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required, AA degree preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of related experience in a Human Resources support role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with a variety of computer programs including MS Office, Excel, Taleo and Lawson.
  • Ability to respect and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to summarize data and prepare and run reports.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal associates and external customers.

 

Physical and Environmental Requirements

·         Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.

·         Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.

·         Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.

·         Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, sound with or without assistive device.
