Network Controller/Operator Intermediate (Government)

AT&T Network Controller/ Analyst is responsible for supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Gateway Service Desk (GSD), providing 24/7/365 technical and operational support to tactical customers accessing DoD Gateway facilities.  Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to an extremely complex IP-Based SATCOM network.
  • Perform network configurations, system monitoring, remote terminal activation, customer problem tracking, and network problem resolution in all aspects of networking integral to our client's Baseband, IF, and RF Communications.
  • Create modem configuration files, switch and router configuration files, and voice equipment configurations.
  • Has responsibility for remotely accessing and de-accessing users into the IP/SATCOM networks and assisting users with troubleshooting SATCOM and IP network problems.
  • Build-outs and maintenance of the IP infrastructure, using iDirect, Viasat and Advantech technology and be familiar with a number of network application tools such as VX Builder, VX Watch, Cisco Call Manager (CCM), Linkway NMS, iDirect NMS and Tivoli NetCool.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Skilled in Satellite Communications (SATCOM), earth station equipment, and associated terrestrial systems.
  • Experienced in the implementation and delivery of DISN services (VoIP, VoSIP, VTC, NIPR, SIPR) through SATCOM Gateways.
  • Utilization of SAA/GAAs as source documentation for network configuration.
  • Advanced IP/Networking experience including routers and switches, subnets, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, RIP), VLANs, ACLs, and multicasting.
  • Advanced knowledge of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways, call managers, performance enhancing proxies (PEP), and telephony systems.
  • Knowledge of implementing hybrid networks---terrestrial, satellite and fiber.
  • Ability to manage IP over SATCOM networks using iDirect, Linkway, or equivalent FM-TDMA hubs.
  • Knowledge of RF theory, characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages associated with the myriad SATCOM bands (L, C, X, Ku, and Ka).
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of tactical and strategic MILSATCOM terminals.
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of MILSATCOM earth terminal equipment (up/down converters, modems, high power amplifiers).
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of MILSATCOM baseband equipment (EBEM, Promina, MIDAS, Convergence routers, IA Tools.).
  • Familiarity with the operation of MILSATCOM encryption devices (KG-250, KG-250x, KIV-7HS, KIV-7M, KG-94, KG-175).
  • Knowledge of information technology and knowledge and experience with commercial and tactical military satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware and software.
  • Knowledge and experience in provisioning and service of IP-based satellite and terrestrial data and video for full-time and occasional use networks.
  • Familiarity with the seven layers of the OSI Model, IPv6, and interest and skill in adapting emerging platforms and new technologies.
  • Familiarity with DoD trouble ticketing systems (GTMS/Remedy), troubleshooting methodologies, and service desk operations.

 

Position requires experience in telecommunications network management, operations, installation or development.

General experience includes increasing technical responsibilities in network management.

Secret w/SSBI (minimum)
