Commercial Color & Design Consultant at PPG works closely with architects, commercial interior designers, corporate accounts, segment customers, and commercial professionals for commercial based projects – including but not limited to, hotels, multifamily homes, office buildings, health care and senior living – to consult on color design specific to each job.
The successful incumbent will be responsible to work with the sales teams to win sales through selection of color for commercial spaces, both interior and exterior.
Organize, plan and execute trade show presentations, providing color training and color trends to prospects and to PPG store and sales colleagues (both regionally and nationally as applicable).
The position requires the ability to do “on-the-spot color consultations” and make recommendations to consumers, hotels, office building owners, new homebuilders, and education and retail customers.
Support architectural reps by conducting joint calls and CEU presentations for firms and specifiers.
Call on commercial interior designers to secure color spec share.
Be a subject matter expert on color theory, relationship of color and human behavior/interaction, and customer color schemes and palettes through building and maintaining memberships with professional organizations associated with design and color consulting.
Presents to internal and external stakeholders, along with potential and current customers on PPG’s commercial color and design opportunities.
Negotiates with customers on products and pricing while partnering internally with PPG sales and architectural departments.
Will be familiar with segments of the Architectural Coatings business within PPG.
The incumbent will be required to meet with current and prospective customers within a specific territory, with variance in schedules, which may include some evenings, overnight and weekend travel.

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in interior design degree or related.
Two years of experience in commercial design including color consulting.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
Prior experience in the paint/coatings industry or sales.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop /Illustrator.
Social media expertise
Active participation in at least one local chapter of one or more of the following organizations: ASID, IIDA, NKBA.
