Position Summary:

The Account Consultant, Furniture (“ACF”) is an outside sales role in Staples Business Advantage Furniture. The ACF will either be assigned to a set of accounts within the Commercial and Enterprise portfolio (including the Education and Healthcare vertical markets), or the ACF will be assigned to a team or teams of Mid-market (ACs and/or SCs) outside sellers.  In either case, the role of the ACF is to identify, qualify, and close furniture sales opportunities, while at the same time improving the furniture selling skills of SALs, SCs, or ACs to a baseline level of competence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, and close furniture opportunities to grow SA top line sales 
  • Assist SALs, SCs, and ACs in the development of their furniture selling skills to a baseline level of competence.
  • Participate in the development of strategic account plans as appropriate
  • Develop innovative and creative approaches to increase furniture sales. 
  • Interact with furniture decision makers within customer and prospect bases. Typically the ACF will interact with Facilities Management, Procurement, or Corporate Real Estate within an account. 
  • Internal interactions focused on SALs, SC, and ACs, as well as with furniture support organization.

Basic:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of sales experience OR two years of Furniture industry experience.

Preferred:
  • Associate’s (2 year) degree
  • Knowledge of furniture industry sales process preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of professional selling skills preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in salesforce.com and Prezi preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Well-developed organizational/ time-management skills
