The Lead Infotainment Hardware Designer is responsible for leading a team of hardware engineers to design and build Ford’s next infotainment hardware platform. The Lead Infotainment Hardware Designer serves in an expert to capacity to mentor engineers and insure compliance to standards.
Responsibilities:
Build and lead a hardware design team to deliver all technical aspects of hardware design and board layout on time and within budget to support product definition and customer requirements (proof of concept through production and warranty analysis)
Lead project planning, status reporting, team engagement, project risk visualization and mitigation plan for the hardware design
Establish statement of work for contract manufacturers for prototypes and production support, while maintaining excellent working relationships with key contacts at all hardware suppliers
Lead Failure Mode Avoidance (including all aspects of FMEA process) to ensure quality of the hardware design
Develop, execute, and improve validation test plans (DV/PV, electromagnetic interference/compatibility, environmental, thermal, and mechanical testing)
Establish a forward-looking hardware roadmap focused on complexity reduction and a robust sourcing strategy
Mentor automotive embedded hardware engineers and build a competency roadmap for career development
Create a highly collaborative, motivated team environment and partner with hardware engineers, suppliers, manufacturers, quality engineers, project managers, embedded system engineers, embedded software developers, and embedded software quality assurance engineers daily
Collaborate with the in-vehicle infotainment software team to support hardware bring-up and testing
Basic Qualifications:
Masters in Electrical Engineering
10+ years of hardware design experience
5+ years of automotive hardware design leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the full product life cycle for complex automotive audio and infotainment hardware designs
Experience with microcontrollers and/or ARM Cortex-M microprocessors
Experience with hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL, Verilog) and programmable logic devices (e.g., CPLDs, FGPAs)
Experience with wireless communication such as Wi-Fi, 2G,3G, 4G, Bluetooth, etc.
Experience with protocols such as CAN, LIN, UART, Ethernet, USB, etc.
Experience with the integration of one or more graphical processors.
Experience with integration of off-the-shelf components like modem, etc
Experience with design and code integration on hardware
Automotive product development process and quality experience (i.e., A-SPICE, FMEA, etc.)
Excellent program management skills, customer focus, mentoring skills, as well as written and oral communication skills
