Currently, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in our Product Design group in our Dearborn, Michigan location. 
 
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree and 3+ years of experience in the automotive product development environment.       
 
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the product design of side door systems for new vehicle programs
  • Develop overall system design to deliver critical functional attributes including Operating Efforts, Wind noise, Squeak & Rattle, Water leaks, Operational Sound Quality, and Craftsmanship
  • Position requires extensive interface with Design Studio on surface development and critical interface issues
  • Lead cross-functional issue resolution across closure sheet metal, hardware, sealing, exterior ornamentation, interior trim, mirrors and glass systems functional areas
  • Support prototype build phases, including product launch
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive product development environment              
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an automotive product development environment delivering a major program from concept through launch
  • Experience interfacing with automotive studio and stamping feasibility engineering.
  • Automotive product-launch experience
  • Experience with door and door hardware FMVSS requirements and CAE required to deliver requirements
  • MS Office proficient
  • Digital Buck capable
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interfacing component engineers, full service suppliers & Ford program management
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
