Currently, we are seeking a Mechanical or Automotive Engineer to work in the Product Design group in our Dearborn, Michigan location. 
 
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree and 3+ years of experience in the automotive product design and release.       
 
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the product design and release of side closure sheet metal components and subsystems for new vehicle programs
  • Position will require interfacing with Design Studio on surface development
  • Critical interfaces will include hardware, sealing, exterior ornamentation, interior trim and glass systems
  • Support of prototype build phases, including product launch, required

 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive product design and release
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years product design and release experience with an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • MS Office proficient
  • Digital Buck capable
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interfacing component engineers, full service suppliers & Ford program management
  • Experience interfacing with automotive studio and sheet metal stamping feasibility engineering.
  • Automotive products launch experience.
  • Experience with automotive assembly and joining processes.
  • Experience with closure panel and hardware FMVSS requirements and CAE.
  • Knowledge of Ford Motor Company release systems and design tools.
  • Experience with light-weight materials.  Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
