Position Summary:

Position Overview/Description:

We are seeking skilled designers with CAD skills.  This person will author CAD Class A surface design following approved Ford Surface CAD procedures.

This position will be performed in our Dearborn, MI offices.

 
Responsibilities:
 

  • Author Class A surface 3D data from Concept stages through Final release of Class A surfaces
  • Support program milestone surface deliverables following approved surface methods, procedures, feasibility requirements and design intent
  • Support program timing by delivering High Quality Class A surface with speed and efficiency
  • Support all CAD & digital surface reviews and confirm contextual design interface compliance
  • Support Design Verification digital & physical model reviews
  • Support surface development process by keeping management informed of progress, issues and resolutions through usage of Share Point database
  • Interface with program teams and downstream activities to enhance and optimize surfaces
  • Identify, analyze and resolve potential feasibility issues with creative alternative solutions and design proposals
 

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: 
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 course passed in one of the following programs: ICEM Surf, ICEM Surf ISD, Alias Auto Studio, or Catia software
 

Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Associate Degree in Applied Science or equivalent
  • Bachelor of Science Degree: Applied Technology or equivalent
  • Proficient with Catia V5 C3P part filing system
  • Proficient with Team Center PIM. Proven ability to develop visible Class 'A' surface utilizing design sketches, verbal direction or point cloud data
  • Strong working knowledge of the Design Studio environment
  • Experience creating and artistic insight, and ensuring progression of surface data consistent with Design Language
  • Knowledge of Product Development Systems and Automotive Design Fundamentals and Feasibility
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Power Point, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint)
  • Strong knowledge of designing around a brand philosophy
  • Good communication skills and strong collaborative behavior for daily interaction with Design Studio, Engineering, Manufacturing and other affected activities
