Vehicle Powertrain Software Validation Engineer

Position Summary:

The Ford Powertrain Controls team is looking for an experienced engineer to develop automated testing methodologies and troubleshoot Ford’s next generation of gasoline and hybrid powertrain programs. In this position you will be part of a fast paced global organization developing new global powertrain technologies to meet the demands for increasing fuel economy, decreasing tailpipe emissions, and improving drivability.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with software developers to create specific test cases and data analysis to determine proper function of powertrain control software
  • Work closely with calibration engineers and software engineers to troubleshoot software issues
  • Flash, configure, and test powertrain control software as needed in prototype vehicles.
  • Lead issue resolution of issues uncovered during software validation
  • Develop or evaluate new software to improve testing efficiency

 
Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience in testing and debugging automotive embedded systems software
 
Preferred Qualifications:

 
  • Experience with calibration development tools (ATI Vision, ETAS Inca, etc.)
  • Python programming experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working with diverse teams and across organizational boundaries to accomplish complex tasks
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving techniques
  • Highly motivated/ self-starter
