Application Engineer - Bluetooth Low Energy Transceiver & Antennas

Position Summary:

The selected candidate will be the vehicle applications engineer responsible for a Bluetooth Low Energy interface and controller Module (BLEM) and its associated BLE transceiver Antennas Modules (BLEAMs) that, collectively, will be used on a global cross-vehicle basis in Ford and Lincoln nameplates vehicles.  The BLEM will be responsible for dialogue with anywhere from 1 to 12 BLE Antenna Modules (BLEAMs) that create a vehicle interface to off-board or on-board BLE based devices. The BLEM will also dialog with other vehicle modules such as the Body Control Module, Telematics Control Module, Sync Control Module, and other feature specific modules.

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Represent the Electrical & Electronics Systems Engineering (EESE) office in Program Team meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring packaging of the BLEM and proper placement and packaging of all the required BLE Antenna Modules on multiple Ford Motor Company (FMC) nameplates.
  • Become the FMC expert on each vehicle specific implementation of the vehicle BLE interface solutions.
  • Understand all the expected BLE Use Cases customers may expect and ensure, as applicable, the sub-system design can support the Use Case expectations.
  • Support the vehicle level qualification and validation of the BLE such-bsystem,.
  • Provide on-site support for each vehicle launch (i.e., new introduction).
  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) with the vehicle programs and vehicle assembly plants for all development and field issues. 
  • Responsible for ensuring resolution of any field issues and on-going product improvement.
  • Support meetings and any activity related to maintenance of quality documentation which may include support for development or update of the Engineering specification (ES), Software Functional Specification (FS), Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA), Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) review of known problems from similar surrogate features, Parameter mapping of design “noise” factors (P-diagram), and development of the Design Verification Plan (DVP).
  • Must effectively interface with various Ford organizations (Body Engineering, Ergonomics, HMI, Design Studio, Planning, Marketing, Purchasing, Automotive Safety, and the Quality Office) to support development of solid vehicle application solution and business case.
  • Candidate will also work very closely with the BLE Module and Antenna Core Engineer who will be responsible for the BLE module and antennas components for global cross-vehicle application.
 
Minimum Requirements:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience in design and release
  • 1+ years of experience with low energy Bluetooth
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Vehicle Electronic Hardware design experience for the purpose of testing prototypes and production units
  • Embedded Software coding experience or awareness.
  • Familiarity with Cellular modems, phone apps, and associated technologies (WiFi, Bluetooth, BLE, NFC). Ford EESE D&R core or applications experience
  • Ford launch experience
