Research Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineer

Position Summary:

Ford Motor Company is looking for a talented electromagnetics engineer to join the Research & Advanced Engineering team, to develop CAE, testing, and other methods of analysis & control unwanted electromagnetic interactions in electrified vehicles.
 
 Responsibilities:   

  • Research component- and vehicle-level EMC issues & mechanisms and develop numerical & analytical methods to predict and mitigate them
  • Develop new EMC requirements / specifications / design guidelines to maximize robustness of EMC validation process efficiency & correlation to real world
  • Debug module-/system-level EMC issues on prototype vehicle programs
  • Lead management & development of small EMC test facility, systems, and equipment to support Research & vehicle programs
  • Develop test methods, mitigation strategies, and design guidelines specific to high-voltage electronic systems
Basic Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Electromagnetics 
  •  2+ years’ experience in EM, EMC, RF, or Signal Integrity engineering
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience in RF and/or EMC and Power Electronics measurement methods (including network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, receivers, reverberation chamber, antenna calibrations, power measurement in PWM waveforms)
  • Experience and capability with RF/EM/EMC numerical modeling methods (e.g, MTL, MoM, FEM, Spice and hybrid codes) and tools (Ansoft Maxwell, Q3D, Simulink, FEKO, EMCoS, Matlab)
  • Understanding of EMC standards
  • Strong educational background in Electromagnetic theory & analysis, circuit analysis, (S pamameters, transmission lines, filters),Electromagnetic numerical modeling methods, Spectrum analysis, linear model identification/fitting and model order reduction, EMC concepts & mitigation strategies
