Embedded Modem Software Feature / Architect

Electrical and Electronic System Engineering (EESE) designs and develops vehicle electrical components and subsystems including infotainment, body electronics, driver information, climate control electronics, chassis electronics, wiring, power distribution, connectors, power supply, switches, software and modeling, restraints electronics and security subsystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for both system functional and software architecture design in the Embedded Modem module implemented in multiple vehicle applications globally
  • Understand all requirements sources (customer, vehicle, strategic, security, regulatory, etc.) as inputs for developing Embedded Modem module level functional and software architecture
  • Provide technical leadership and decision making to the Embedded Modem software development teams for functional software system related matters
  • Support the selection of appropriate software design solutions
  • Identify and resolve software design issues and / or ambiguities found in feature specifications during the software development cycle
  • Work with the supplier software team to explain cascaded software architecture design
  • Work with feature owners and requirements engineering teams to aid in developing functional and software architecture design strategies
  • Define and maintain Embedded Modem software architecture standards
  • Support resolution of engineering issues with cross-functional and supplier teams
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of software systems engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience with software architecture and standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, GENIVI, etc.) and with Automotive SPICE, Capability Maturity Model (CMM), or other software development process models
  • 1+ years of experience developing production embedded software, preferably in Connectivity / Infotainment domain
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years embedded software design & development experience in Automotive Infotainment systems with an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • 2+ years experience with industry standard software tools (e.g., UML, SysML, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, Stateflow, Matlab, etc.)
  • Experience in automotive applications and applicable interfaces such as vehicle CAN network communication bus and vehicle diagnostics
  • Understanding of embedded module architecture: microcontrollers, Flash / RAM, device drivers, etc.
  • Independent worker and capable of delivering multiple project commitments concurrently
  • Broad interpersonal skills allowing a wide range of interface with vehicle product development / subsystems engineers, cross-functional teams, and suppliers
