Product Development - Thermal Systems Engineering (TSE)

Position Summary:

The Thermal Systems Engineering (TSE) group is responsible for engine cooling airflow & temperature, engine air induction temperatures, thermal development, cooling and thermal system CAE and vehicle level verification.

Responsibilities:

  • Cooling airflow and thermal development and vehicle level sign-off of forward model vehicle applications
  • Upfront system engineering using analytical tools to support various cooling and thermal deliverables
  • Key member of TSE attribute team which interfaces with various attributes and systems (engine, transmission, design studio, trailer tow, vehicle integration, etc.)
  • Develop cooling and thermal systems solution sets that are energy efficient and meet program targets for cost and function
  • Analyze vehicle performance capability (engine torque, transmission gear selection, final drive ratios) and provide sensitivity studies using 1-D vehicle thermal models
  • Vehicle sign off includes test preparation, test coordination, data analysis, and presentation of data
  • Interface with Design and Release engineers and Program Management to resolve system issues
  • Occasionally, responsible for signing off on cooling and thermal related current product changes and/or cost reduction actions
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer or Fluid Dynamics
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of cooling hardware, for instance heat exchangers, fans, flow circuits, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in the product development process in automotive or a similar industry
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively
  • Analytical skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues
  • Proficient in MS Office Products
