Powertrain Development Engineer, Hybrid Fuel Economy Calibration

Position Summary:

The Ford Electrified Powertrain Engineering Team is looking for qualified candidates to perform powertrain calibration duties on Gasoline/Electric Hybrid applications.  Ford Calibrators work in a team environment to deliver production ready powertrain calibrations on time with efficiency and quality.  The Hybrid Fuel Economy Calibration Engineer will be responsible for optimizing the hybrid powertrain calibration by minimizing energy usage in all environmental conditions.  Responsibilities include laboratory and in-vehicle development at testing facilities in Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Canada.
 
Responsibilities: 

 

  • Optimize the powertrain calibration for fuel economy in all environmental conditions
  • Utilize software tools to simulate, calibrate, test, and analyze powertrain control module data
  • Develop testing plans and evaluate vehicle attributes (performance, fuel economy, emissions, drivability) on vehicle, engine dynamometer test cells, and environmental test cells 
  • Conduct vehicle testing and development in S.E. Michigan and at locations in Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Canada
  • Review customer data to help understand and develop future powertrain designs
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Up to 20% domestic/international travel required

Job Requirements:
 
 
Basic Qualifications: 


 
  • B.S. Engineering (BSME or BSEE) 
  • 2+ years of experience with Calibration Tools including ETAS and/or ATI, and Matlab
 
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • MSME or MSEE
  • Prior experience with Hybrid Electric Powertrain Systems
  • Ability to read and understand Simulink flow diagrams and C programming source code 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Emission Regulatory Requirements Worldwide
  • Demonstrated teamwork and strong overall communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong statistical knowledge
