eDrive Functional Safety Engineer

Position Summary:

As a member of the Hybrid Vehicle Team, the eDrive Functional Safety Engineer will prepare and maintain ISO 26262 Functional Safety work products for the Electric Drive (eDrive) Systems team including: Item definition, Hazard Analysis (HARA), Functional Safety Concept and the Safety Requirements Specification. You will interface with hardware and software engineering teams to ensure proper cascade / allocation of functional and technical safety requirements.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Assist application teams assess supplier Functional Safety work product documentation for completeness
  • Collaborate with Functional Safety teams throughout the company to ensure consistent application of the ISO 26262 standard
  • Prepare and present project status reports at team / management reviews
  • Establish self as the go-to person within the eDrive team for assessing new technologies against the corporate aligned Functional Safety process
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering
  • 1+ years system engineering experience
  • 1+ years of experience capturing requirements and developing engineering specifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Hybrid / xEV powertrain systems
  • Systems modeling (SysML/MATLAB/Simulink) experience
  • Prior experience applying the ISO 26262 standard to automotive safety projects or similar safety standards in a non-automotive industry
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
