Seat Mechanisms Technical Specialist-Product Development

Position Summary:

Professional position utilizing engineering education and experience to engage in the development of Seat Mechanisms. This includes all aspects of work including program management from pre-program through product implementation.  This position will be responsible for Seat Mechanisms including Adjusters, Tracks, Height Adjust, Recliners, Latches, and cables into forward model programs.  This role will be located in Dearborn, Michigan and will interact with other engineers on the design team in a collaborative and innovative team environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop new and innovative ideas in a highly technical and cross-functional team environment; develop the ideas into work plans and the product development process
  • Lead and development of multiple advanced seat project work plans up to and through implementation readiness
  • Will be responsible for the development of New and Advanced Seat Mechanisms and the subsequent project management work plans leading to implementation planning
  • Will regularly produce design verification plans and reports and perform failure model effect analysis in the course of resolving design issues.

Minimum Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of related work experience in automotive seats
  • 1+ Experience Seat Mechanisms including Adjusters, Tracks, Height Adjust, Recliners, Latches, or cables into forward model programs.

Preferred Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in designing Seat Mechanisms including Seat Adjusters/Tracks
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple “customers” simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate clearly with engineers at several levels both in written form (spreadsheets and reports) and verbally (presentation at meetings)
  • Experience with development of project management work plans
  • Experience with the innovation process
  • Experience with Six Sigma principles (DMAIC/DFSS)
  • Experience analyzing and using statistical techniques & software
  • Experience in applying 8D problem solving methodology
  • Experience in applying DFMEA, DOE, and tolerance design tools
  • Experience signing off on CAD models and drawings and related geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Experience leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance
  • Experience liaising with design studio and package engineering to ensure correct surfacing, package and theme
