Position Summary:

Job Title:  Safety Engineer
   

Position Overview/Description: 
 
As a member of the Electric Machine and Power Electronics Controls Team, you will be responsible for safety-critical diagnostic requirements and controls design for electric machine and power electronics system. You will lead safety-critical requirement development for electric drive and support vehicle-level safety critical requirement development. You will also be in charge of requirement and release documentation management in VSEM. You will lead ISO26262 development within the team.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop safety-critical diagnostic requirements and controls design
  • Develop and maintain safety-critical diagnostic calibration procedures
  • Develop design verification plans to validate safety-critical diagnostics and software
  • Implement embedded software source code in C, execute software test cases
  • Perform safety-critical diagnostic calibration
  • Support safety-critical diagnostic testing in HIL and vehicle
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of diagnostic calibration/control issues, both in development and production
 
 
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: 
 
  • B.S. in Engineering
  • 2 + years of  work experience utilzing ISO26262
  • 2 + years in C, Matlab and MS Excel
  
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Education/specialization in electric motor controls and/or power electronics is a plus
  • Experience designing diagnostic controls or calibration is preferred
  • Understanding of Hybrid Vehicle operation is a plus
