Position Summary:

Job Title:  Battery Engineer, Electrified Vehicle Team

Position Overview/Description:  
This is an excellent opportunity to work on the Electrified Vehicle Team as a Battery Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for battery cell chemistry analysis. This person will also be responsible for material selection and evaluation, including electrode, electrolyte and separator materials. You will also be responsible for large format lithium ion cell design development and qualification. Work constructively with outside organizations on testing. Develop cell-pack hardware compatibility-systems studies and Design Validation. This person will work on advanced battery pack & cell testing, with detailed evaluations.
 

Responsibilities: 

  • Energy storage technology development in multi-organizational team
  • Battery and cell usage analysis and related specification development
  • Battery test lab operations, planning, and test methods development
  • Advanced battery controls and new concept development
  • Cell electrochemical modeling and validation
  • Key Life Test development and evaluation
  • Automotive cell reliability analysis, including design and process failure mode and effects analysis
  • Hybrid* battery system and electrified vehicle operations
  • Hybrid refers to both full and plug-in hybrids.  Full battery electric vehicle (BEV) needs could be included as well.
Job Requirements:
 
Basic Qualifications: 
  • BS Engineering
  • 1 or more yrs. Engineering experience
  • 1 or more yrs. Microsoft suite experience
Preferred Qualifications:


 
  • Excellent teamwork and communications skills, demonstrated, for example, by class projects
  • At least 1 internship or hands-on research assistantship experience desired
  • Computer skills in at least 2 programs (e.g. Matlab, C)
  • Involvement with Formula SAE or similar collegiate design activities  
  • Interest in the automotive industry  
  • Ability to work within a diverse team  
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment  
  • Proficient computer skills (at least 6 month programming with Matlab)
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to understand and manage complex systems  
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize work
  • At least 1 internship or hands-on research assistantship experience desired.
