Position Summary:

Job Title: Hybrid Powertrain Controls & Software Engineer 

Position Overview/Description:  
The Hybrid Powertrain Controls & Software Engineer will interpret requirements and implement as C language software design for the Hybrid Vehicle system controller.  The scope of software design includes related hybrid sub-systems; regenerative brakes, high-voltage battery, transaxle motor and generator, engine torque and engine power management.  You will develop microprocessor interface requirements for supplied modules for the Hybrid Control Unit functions.  Perform validation of supplied Low Level Driver software (LLDs) and associated board support package issues. You will consult with suppliers regarding Primary Boot Loader and secondary boot loader requirements and consult with suppliers regarding requirements for Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and Keep-alive memory (KAM).

Responsibilities:   

  • Perform testing of supplied controller boards
  • Evaluate and provide design for corporate embedded security requirements
  • Evaluate and provide design for corporate module reprogramming
  • Ensure calibration development tools are integrated with control unit
  • Maintain RTOS requirements for HCU
  • Complete hardware interface design reviews with Motors department and suppliers
  • Complete VBF format creation in alignment with Powertrain Controls organization
  • .Complete Ford Netcom CAN testing
 
Job Requirements:


Basic Qualifications:
  • BS Computer Engineering / Science, or BSEE
  • 5 + years experience using real-time embedded control software and design experience including C Programming language, Vector RTOS, and associated board support packages
  • 5 + years microprocessor architectures and associated low level drivers
 
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with dSPACE Hardware in the Loop test systems using Control Desk
  • Experience with Python scripting language
  • Experience with calibration development tools, especially ATI emulators
  • Experience with software quality tools, e.g. Lint and MISRA
