Engineer, Powertrain Controls Software

Position Summary:



This Powertrain Controls Software Engineering position involves the design and implementation of engine control software features and associated diagnostic systems per Ford Motor Company Software Standards. 

Responsibilites:
 

  • Capture requirements for engine function; attribute delivery, serviceability, and regulatory compliance
  • Design control system/strategy/software to meet requirements
  • Perform robustness analysis of systems and incorporate findings into control system design
  • Use Ford Motor Company development environment to create engine control software
  • Unit test and debug feature software
  • Document all changes using Ford process and tools
  • Create/update control Feature Requirements Documents
  • Develop initial calibration guidelines/recommendations for the feature software
  • Create and execute the validation plan using simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle resources
  • Collaborate within the subsystem feature team with representatives from hardware and calibration activities to manage the design and development of engine control software
  • Manage RAM, ROM and chronometric resource usage for each function
  • Release Feature Software to programs
Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 2+ Years Developing Powertrain Control Systems
  • 1+ years of experience with Basic Principles of Controls Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience of Software Engineering and Coding Skills
  • 1+ years of experience of Modeling, Simulation, and Testing Techniques
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Gas Particulate Filter Knowledge Desirable
  • Proactive Attitude, Leadership And Interpersonal Skills, Work Planning And Data Analysis Skills
  • Working Knowledge of Product Development System Engineering Principles
  • Working Knowledge of Basic Combustion Engine Operating Principles
