Position Summary:

Position Overview/Description:
 
We are looking for a Chassis D&R Engineer to join our Ford Performance team.  This position will lead the design and delivery of chassis components for Ford Performance products that are sold through our Ford dealerships. 
 
This position will be located in Allen Park, Michigan.
 
Responsibilities:
 
 

  • Lead the design and delivery of chassis components for Ford Performance product, with a focus on Stabilizer bars, Coil springs, and associated hardware (links, brackets, bushings)
  • Lead development of new and modified components for future Ford Performance product.  Later support of launch and prototype builds of this product for chassis content at local assembly plants
  • Interface with the core chassis functions to maintain relationships and product understanding – sharing work methods, design rules, hardware/software specifications, and guidelines
  • Deliver all components/systems with quality that meet program function, cost, weight, and timing requirements.  Lead and manage the relevant chassis supply base to deliver this content
  • Support attribute teams (Vehicle Dynamics, Integration, NVH, etc.) to deliver best in class handling and ride for performance vehicles
  • Some travel will be required
    -  Local assembly plants
    -  Supplier locations
    -  Test facilities

     
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: 
 
  • 1+ years of Suspension experience working as or interfacing with Chassis Design and Release Engineer; this experience must include Launch exposure and Original Equipment product development system timing plan, Part Releasing Process; and issue identification/resolution
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience using CAD tools

Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Design and Release experience in newly tooled stabilizer bars and coil springs
  • Previous experience in low volume sourcing and manufacturing
  • MSME
  • Understanding of GPDS timing plans, Part Releasing Process, Manufacturing techniques of chassis hardware, bolted joint design, and knowledge of Performance Vehicles
  • Other chassis or vehicle development experience
  • Independent self-starter that can connect analytical tools with physical hardware and vehicle performance
  • Innovative mindset with high level of motivation to deliver high performance vehicle attributes
