Applications engineers have program responsibility for all HMI documentation and deliveries. They deliver HMI interaction requirements and support Tier 1 cluster/HUD suppliers. Responsibilities include:
Work as part of graphical user interface team on new cluster/HUD designs. Other team members include Design, Ergonomics, D&R, Marketing, and PMT
Develop cluster/HUD interaction which includes menu structure; logic and flow diagrams; behavior and screen flow based on customer interaction with steering wheel controls
Support engineers creating models developed and delivered to supplier to aid in understanding HMI interaction
Creation and population of language translation table for each program
Work with feature owner and Driver Information Core team to develop the HMI and logic for undefined/new features. e.g. Selectable Drive Modes, Driver Assistance features or similar
Work directly with Tier 1’s to aid understanding of all HMI requirements
Support validation of HMI interaction through customer clinics
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Engineering or Interaction Design
3+ years of experience in interaction design; instrument cluster component design, or automotive infotainment design
Preferred Qualifications:
Capable of working in a cross-functional /global HMI role
Strong written and oral communication.
Ability to present to audiences at all levels in the organization.
