Job Title: Instrument Panel Systems Engineer - Product Development - Entry Level
 
Position Overview/Description:

 
In support of development of our expanding and exciting product portfolio, there is an opportunity for a Product Development Engineer to lead development of our next generation Instrument Panel Systems.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Professional position utilizing engineering education and experience to design and release Instrument Panel Systems
  • Responsible for all phases of engineering and integration from design concept to production release
  • Work with Design Studio and CAD designers to develop 3D CAD models which meet appearance and functional requirements
  • Utilize design tools CAE and Dimensional Tolerance to develop efficient designs which meet customer expectations
  • Ensure designs meet tooling and manufacturing feasibility
  • Validate designs through the Ford Design Validation process, resolving all issues in a timely manner
  • Provide design support and issue resolution of all launch issues associated with Interior Instrument Panel Systems
  • Develop Design Standards for Instrument Panel Systems

Minimum Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field of study
  • 1+ years of automotive or engineering experience
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing and developing Interior Instrument Panel Systems and related components
  • Experience with the Integration of Instrument Panel components - Electronics, Wiring, Climate System interface, Passenger Air Bag and Registers
  • Experience with the Design and Release task / process and working with designers for in-house designed Interior Instrument Panel Systems
  • Experience working with Instrument Panel Systems attribute targets, package and tooling feasibility, material analysis, Design Rules and Specifications, DFMEA, FMA and DVPR
  • Experience with Interior Instrument Panel Systems and surrounding subsystem CAE, Validation process and pass/fail criteria including cycle and material testing
  • Experience working with Instrument Panel Systems cost analysis, manufacturing, injection molding, wrapping and other skin technology (including Passenger Air Bag System Integration and interaction with Instrument Panel skin) and material / material performance
