Job Title: Restraints Engineer-Product Development
Position Overview/Description:
Professional position utilizing engineering education and experience to engage in the design and release of Restraints such as Airbags, Side Air Curtains, Seatbelts, Steering Wheels, or Occupant Classification Systems. This includes all aspects of work from pre-programming through launch. Will be responsible for all phases of engineering, and will interact with other engineers on the design team to coordinate CAD, CAE, and manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
Will be applying Six Sigma principles (DMAIC/DFSS) reviewing and signing-off on tool drawings, tooling CAD, and molding simulations; analyzing and using statistical techniques & software; applying 8D problem solving methodology; applying DFMEA, DOE, and tolerance design tools; signing off on CAD models and drawings and related geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance; developing and maintaining test plans and reports (DVP&R); liaising with design studio and package engineering to ensure correct surfacing, package and theme
Will be responsible for the resolution of issues identified by team members in connection with the design and release of Restraints
Will regularly produce design verification plans and reports and perform failure model effect analysis in the course of resolving design issues
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field of study
3+ years of related automotive or restraints experience
1+ years of Microsoft Office experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters of Mechanical Engineering or higher
1+ years of experience in designing and developing Restraints (i.e. Airbags, Side Air Curtains, Seatbelts, Steering Wheels, or Occupant Classification System)
Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple "customers" simultaneously
Ability to communicate clearly with engineers at several levels both in written form (Spreadsheets and reports) and verbally (presentations at meetings)
Applying Six Sigma principles (DMAIC/DFSS)
Reviewing and signing-off on tool drawings, tool CAD, and stamping simulations
Analyzing and using statistical techniques & software
Applying 8D problem solving methodology
Applying DFMEA, DOE, and tolerance design tools
Signing off on CAD models and drawings and related geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance
Maintaining DVP&R and signing-off on DV tests
Liaising with design studio and package engineering to ensure correct surfacing, package and theme
