With over 900 retail centers in North America, we continue to grow.  Currently we are seeking a Cost Accountant I to join our team.  Within our stores channel, we sell a wide range of architectural coatings and sundry items to industry, builders, contractors, and home owners.  Experienced and entry level candidates are welcome to apply!  Join a leading team today! 

 

A Cost Accountant's responsibilities include most plant accounting functions, such as cost accounting, inventory reporting and control, production and shipment reporting, product costing, monthly operations reporting, GL account reconciliations, and components of the annual budgeting cycle.

 

The position has primary responsibility for coordinating the plant accounting month-end closing process to ensure all reporting requirements are completed per corporate deadlines.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • preparation of journal voucher entries,
  • balancing reports,
  • detail transfer of data to the standard cost system,
  • monthly deviation analysis,
  • monthly/annual operations cost and variance reporting.  

Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Analysis, this person will be responsible for developing elements of the plant's annual cost budget and ensuring standard cost and other accounting systems are updated consistent with budget assumptions.

 

This person will also be responsible for ensuring the adequacy of certain internal controls and implementing corrective actions as necessary. The incumbent maintains the plant's SAP accounts and provides assistance and direction to plant personnel in the proper use. The incumbent performs monthly physical inventories of finished goods and raw materials and is responsible for the inventory reconciliation process. The position also assists in other plant accounting functions including system support and development during future upgrades.

Experience and Education:

 

Bachelor degree in a business related field

 

At least (5) five years of experience in Accounting with emphasis on Cost Accounting, General Accounting, and Financial Reporting. 

 

Core Finance Skills required include Financial Analysis, Internal Controls, and Planning/BSR/Estimating.

 

25% travel is a requirement.
