Network Controller/Operator Intermediate (Government)

The Network Controller/Operator serves as a technical specialist responsible for monitoring, operating and managing the NORTEL OPTERA 3500, NET Promina, CISCO 15454/15310, CIENA CORESTREAM, SYCAMORE SN16000 Intelligent Switch, LARSCOM CSU/DSU, ADTRAN M13 MUX(s), and other associated transport equipment (such as modems, smart jacks, media converters, circuit switching units, data switching units, cryptographic equipment, routers, front-end processors, secure telephone switches, and PBX's).


The Network Controller/Operator will be required to:

  • Troubleshoot, restore, provide service, and oversee maintenance actions on the legacy and new Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) Core Networks.
  • Pro-actively monitor of all circuit, trunk, node, and network level alarms and alerts to identify those components/elements, which may lead to or are already causing a network degradation or failure. The Network Controller/Operator accomplishes this through use of network management system(s) such as PRESIDE AP, Panavue, NETMS, SARDIMSS, CISCO TRANSPORT MANAGER, CIENA ON-CENTER, SILVX MANAGER, TELENIUM, MicroMuse, INMS, and other Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) associated assets on a continuous 24x7x365 (rotating shifts) basis.
  • Perform pro-active monitoring of network elements alarms and alerts to identify those components/elements that may lead to or already are causing network degradation or failure.
  • Perform fault isolation and diagnostic/assessment functions to include determination and execution of corrective action(s) on real-time basis.
  • Interface with functional users as well as remote operations centers in both routine and reactive monitoring situations.
  • Maintain logs and records associated with reported problems or situations.
  • Execute all reporting functions and data input associated with network management.
  • Monitor security posture of network(s); reports suspected violations to designated authority.
  • Coordinate with configuration management and implementation entities to ensure optimum dissemination of information and network efficiency.
  • Perform operator level maintenance on all components/assets associated with network management systems.
  • Provide functional guidance, technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control as part of the Tier 1 network operations team. 

 Security CE certification.
 Minimum 3 years of experience with at least 2 years of experience in telecommunications network management, operations, installation or development. General experience includes increasing technical responsibilities in network management.



Required Clearance: Secret w/SSBI (minimum)
