525 Assembly Technican

Bell Helicopter - Lafayette, Louisiana

NOTE: This is an entry level position geared towards individuals with little or no prior aviation experience. In order to be eligible for this position, applicants must apply to the opening on Bell Helicopter’s website and be screened by a recruiter. If selected for further screening, the applicants will be invited to attend an unpaid pre-employment training conducted by Louisiana’s FastStart program. Upon successful completion of the training, the candidate will be invited to an onsite interview for employment consideration.
 
The FastStart training is scheduled to begin in early-April 2017 and will take place from 6 pm to 9:30 pm 3 nights a week over the course of three weeks. Applicants must be able to attend all training sessions and will be given several assessments to determine teamwork abilities and mechanical aptitude as well as aircraft familiarization training.
 
This position is for 1st shift, working a 4x10 schedule. 1st shift typically works Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be required at management’s discretion.
 
If hired, the starting wage for this position is around $14.50 / hour and is dependent upon experience.
 
 
 
Bell Helicopter is currently looking for an entry-level Aircraft Assembler for the Lafayette Assembly Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for aircraft assembly on the Bell 525 Relentless cabin. There is no relocation package offered with this position.
 
All Team Members at LAC are expected to work together as One Team across functional boundaries. Where qualified and when possible, team members will participate in production activities, to include logistics and kitting, assembly and aircraft preparation to insure that a quality product is delivered on-time to the customer. 
This position will work 1st shift. 1st shift typically works Monday – Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm (typically known as a 4 x 10’s schedule). The shift assignment could change at a later date, depending on production needs.  Candidate must be able to work overtime when required by the production schedule.
 
Primary Position Responsibilities:
 
  • Position and assemble parts according to Integrated Work Instructions (IWIs)
  • Perform Operation Verification (OV) or log assembled products to Quality Inspection as required
  • Keep assembly department clean and free of foreign object debris
  • Keep Production Manager advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments
  • Have a high paced work ethic that is focused on safety and quality of the product
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
 
Experience:
  • Applicants must successfully complete the FastStart Pre-Employment training (detailed above)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 
The employee must be able to safely move parts and tools onto and off of the aircraft and to use/manipulate objects – such as tools and parts – with a high degree of precision.  Employee must also be able to safely access and/or work in all parts of the aircraft for the purpose of completing the assembly; this may require the employee to work in confined spaces and at heights, to perform overhead work, and/or to work from step stools, creepers, scissor lifts, lift platforms, and/or aircraft structures without handrails.
