A Macy’s Sourcing Internship allows you to be a contributing member of the team that sources goods and services in a manner that provides Macy’s with the best value, highest quality and lowest total cost supply chain solution, while creating a sustainable competitive advantage in every aspect of our business. As a Sourcing Intern, you will benefit from a structured program designed to develop your business acumen and leadership skills through hands-on learning and real-world assignments. You will work with Macy’s internal stakeholders and suppliers across the nation to deliver the best value to the organization, while promoting ethical sourcing activities, improving supply chain optimization, and reducing the overall environmental footprint of our supply chain.

Essential Functions:
• Conduct the professional sourcing process for both tactical and strategic projects of cross-company buying efforts for areas of responsibility, including development of product requirements, statements of work, supplier evaluation criteria, bid optimization, and cost transparency models.
• Develop bidding strategies, in collaboration with the internal stakeholders and management, by analyzing spend data and aggregating business opportunities, and using defined professional sourcing processes and methodologies, negotiation skills, bid analysis, and proven project management skills, to drive projects to timely completion while delivering targeted financial results.
• Maximize implementable cost savings on materials and processes within areas of responsibility through transparent cost modeling and rigorous total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis; collaborate and communicate with management regarding historical baselines, projected cost savings, and budget planning; coordinate with internal work groups for successful execution of projects insuring a strong customer experience.
• Support management in the preparation and execution of successful supplier negotiations, through the identification of supplier strengths and weaknesses and cost drivers, to secure the best supplier(s) to support the objectives of the Company.
• Present innovation ideas and creative opportunities for process simplification and improvements that drive total cost improvement.
• Cultivate constructive and collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and strategic supplier partners.
• Strong interest in procurement, supply chain management, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• To be eligible for our internship, you should be on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred.
• All majors will be considered for this opportunity
Communication Skills:
• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Mathematical Skills:
• Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Reasoning Ability:
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands:
• This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment.
• May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
