Position Responsibilities:
This marketing position is responsible for broad range of product activities in support of the Caulks and Sealant business.  The position is responsible for driving comprehensive marketing strategies with customers, markets and different channels for this brand. The critical functions of this position include the development and execution of integrated new product and marketing plans based on industry, competitive, regulatory trends and field level customer and end user interactions.  Strategic planning for innovative new product development, commercialization plans to support continued profitable growth. Direct interaction and project prioritization with the Product Development Lab.  Management of the existing product portfolio through product life-cycle to maximize growth, efficiency and profitability. Lead important cross-functional project teams to drive key brand and product related initiatives to desired results and timing. The Product Manager is a highly visible role within Sherwin-Williams. This role interacts closely with team members from a wide variety of functional areas, including R&D, Sales, Supply Chain/Operations, Inventory Management, Market Research, Customer Service, Technical Service, Finance, Brand Management and Channel Management.                                 
 
Innovation & New Product Development
Lead cross-functional teams to research and develop industry-leading new products, focusing on unmet needs and innovative solutions. Using the Stage Gate product development process, lead project teams recruited by the product manager from concept to commercialization.
 
Product Portfolio Management
Product lifecycle management, from launch to discontinuation. Work with supply chain and sales to manage inventories, improve productivity (turns, batch sizes, shipping costs, obsolescence). Conduct activities to improve RONAE, including category reviews, SKU/formula rationalization, formulary cost savings, and assisting with outsourced products and components.
 
Product Financial Success
Contribute to ongoing growth in sales, market share, and profit for brands and products. Increase product/brand equity and expand market share through new products/packaging, channel promotions, and pricing. Deliver product line sales and profit objectives, including forecasts.
 
Market/Category Knowledge Leadership
Participate in planning and executing market research to extract the needs of the customer. Conduct jobsite visits and end-user interviews/focus groups, attend industry conferences and trade shows, and read/contribute to industry media. Publish summaries of market size/trends/conditions. Represent the category in all sales channels, including line reviews, strategy development, and launch execution.
 
Technical Product Support
Technical writing for product packaging/labels, literature, web sites, technical papers, technical support materials, and training programs for use by sales teams and end-users. Assist in developing physical product samples/demo tools, product specifications, product comparisons/crossovers, product news releases
 
Basic Qualifications:

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status

Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone
Must be at least 18 years of age
 

 

Experience Required:
4-6 years of prior experience in Sales, Marketing, Channel Mgmt, and/or Product Development with progressively more responsibility and a track record of results
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous supervisory or coaching experience preferred
At least 1 year of experience with P&L and/or budgeting is required. Previous Product Management experience preferred     
Prefer MBA/MS 
Sales experience or interaction with sales teams in construction materials categories
Knowledge of North American Caulk & Sealants market
Success in managing cross-functional project teams
Working knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, construction materials, and/or architectural terms and concepts
Experience in working with chemists or engineers on research and development projects for packaged goods sold through distribution
Experience with packaging development
Experience in acquiring/sourcing third-party products from North American sources
Experience with use of market research and how to apply it to the category

Education Required:

Bachelor Degree in Marketing or related field
