Job Description
The Plant Manager will work in the Grand Haven, MI facility and will report to the Regional Operations Director, IC Americas. The incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership and management to plant operations. The Plant Manager provides management oversight for the day-to-day operations and proper functioning of the Grand Haven plant, to include Production, Quality Control, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Environmental Health & Safety, and Shipping & Receiving. This position will support and create processes and activities within functional areas, and work to support the development of new business and maintenance of current business.The Plant Manager ensures efficiency, safety, quality throughout the plant. They own and manage plant P&L to control costs and drive performance. They identify process improvement opportunities to drive efficiency and oversee operational performance to ensure consistent and superior customer service, while also building a strong culture that develops employees.
To be successful in this role, the Plant Manager will perform the following:
Establish, pursue, and achieve a strategic direction for the Grand Haven plant, which compliments and supports the overall objectives for the Industrial Coatings business unit.
Collaborate with the Operations Director to provide insights on process improvement opportunities for safety, quality, delivery, production and cost reduction. Gain approval, develop plans and lead the implementation.
Participate in financial analysis and planning and track P&L metrics to ensure the long-term viability of the plant.
Assess plant performance against Operating Plans & Standards. Ensure plant performance meets business goals and exceeds customer requirements.
Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production department to attain all established goals.
Ensure on schedule and on budget delivery.
Promote a performance-driven and continuous improvement environment for manufacturing operations. Foster innovation and creativity within the plant.
Proactively seeks ways to improve KPI's particularly decreasing costs and maintaining quality, efficiency and customer service.
Foster positive and cooperative employee relations through fair and equitable enforcement of company policies and procedures and treating employees with integrity and respect.
Communicate with R&D and other groups about product issues and/or failures.
Emphasize safety programs and initiatives and assure the highest standard of safety throughout the plant.Drive a safety focused culture.
Partner with Human Resources to establish, drive and maintain all people practices and ensure 100% adherence to established timelines.
Establishes standards of performance including timely and accurate use of the performance management process to evaluate and communicate effectiveness and suggestions for development opportunities.
Conduct staff meetings to communicate key information and ensure messages are cascaded down into the organization.
Manages staffing requirements for increased labor efficiencies to meet plant objectives.
Work with leadership team to support employees on their growth and development. Motivate employees to contribute at their full potential.
Identify top talent and mentor and advise these high performing employees. Outline succession plans to identify growth opportunities for top talent.
Create a positive culture that supports personnel development and growing strong talent.
Develop and maintain a favorable employee relations environment.
Adheres to the Code of Business Ethics; values honesty and integrity above all else; expects all plant employees to also be committed to the highest ethical standards
Prepare management reporting as required.
Develop and maintain the facility as a world class facility.
May need to assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

Minimum Required Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience with at least 3-5 years as a Plant Manager at a manufacturing facility.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Experience in a powder coating production operation
Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement preferred.
Functional and Technical Skills
Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering.
Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
