The Senior Netezza Data Warehouse developer will develop, test, analyze, document, and maintain the Netezza data warehouse domestic and global processes and related infrastructure. They will assist in the day to day operations of the Netezza data warehouse. The developer will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the software development life cycle. They will work closely with DBAs, development staff, Project Management, and the Data Integrity team to support both domestic and global initiatives. Essential Functions
Strategy and Planning • Day-to-day monitoring of the overall system health of two Production and two Dev/QA Netezza appliances. • Research, document, and implement Netezza Performance Portal to allow for proactive server monitoring. • Monitor and maintain existing Netezza Database user and group configurations, and existing backup and restore procedures, to support ITGC effectiveness. • Work closely with the MicroStrategy development team to document and enhance existing domestic and global data warehouse processes. • Work closely with the development staff and DBAs to coordinate new & existing processes.
Acquisition and Deployment • Perform scheduled software upgrades, maintenance, and applying software patches as necessary for the Netezza OS, and for Netezza In-Database Analytics. • Develop comprehensive disaster recovery procedures and test DR plan during annual DR simulation. • Perform data validations while working closely with the Data Integrity team. • Create and maintain auditing and balancing processes and reports. • Create and maintain accurate project timelines and tasks. • Perform adhoc queries to facilitate data requests for both internal and external users. Operational Management • Document server configurations, hardware relationship diagrams, procedures, and general DB best practices. • Develop, test, analyze, and document Linux bash scripts for ETL and reporting processes from multiple sources including Oracle systems, the mainframe, and other internal and external systems. Incidental Functions
• Research new technologies, including tools, components, and frameworks. • Make presentations to management, clients, and peer groups as requested. • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with customers and approval of supervisor. • Provide off-hours support as required. • Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work. • Participate in hiring activities and fulfilling affirmative action obligations and ensuring compliance with the equal employment opportunity policy.

Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification • Bachelor Degree or foreign equivalent in related field or equivalent experience. Knowledge & Experience • 5 years of IT experience. • 3 years in SQL development (such as PostgreSQL, SQL, PL-SQL) • 3 years of server side scripting and programming in a Linux/Unix/Solaris environment. Preferred Experience • Experience working with customers to build and formulate business requirements. • Excellent understanding of common database technologies including performance, tuning, and optimization (Netezza preferred). • Strong data manipulation skills and experience with data warehouse ETL tools and processes. • General understanding of Business Intelligence Tools (Business Objects, OBIEE, or MicroStrategy).
