Key Responsibilities
 
This position directs the Ecoat lab and production to ensure production quality to meet customer and TS16949 requirements.  This position serves as back up for Superintendent Resin/Ecoat Process for Ecoat processes, and therefore, must be totally familiar with the process and the process control systems for the manufacture of Ecoat product at Delaware.
  • Lab Management - plan each day's work, including scheduling technicians and verifying that needed materials are available as well as modifications to plans based on changing priorities and/or availability of personnel, equipment and materials.
  • Quality Systems – Ensure quality processes and systems are in place and personnel are trained to meet requirements. Ensure product quality of material manufactured. Ensure all raw materials used meet set specifications. Ensure all set technical requirements and standards for manufacturing and finished product quality are in place.
  • Develop Others – Train and evaluate staff utilizing PPG’s PLP system
  • Production – Understand and manage the daily production process, related EHS, and labor contract in the management of production employees
  • EHS – compliance to all PPG EHS policies and procedures; key Ecoat plant safety and environmental responsibilities including:
    • Minimizing hazardous waste generations
    • Accurate and timely reporting/cleaning of accidental discharges
    • Serving as management's immediate representative to the public on weekends or off shifts in the event of community complaints
    • Ensuring emergency preparedness procedures are followed
    • Serving on the fire brigade and/or stat squads.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s technical degree or equivalent and relevant technical work experience producing electrocoat, resin and/or similar products.
  • Previous production and quality systems experience so that proper action can be promptly taken in all extraordinary situations. 
  • An understanding of analytical and testing process is required.
  • Effective employee relations and communication skills (written and oral) are required.
