Position Summary
Downtown Cleveland commercial building, 20 story high rise, needs a qualified maintenance mechanic. This position provides opportunity for gaining experience with a wide variety of equipment used to retrofit an older building for modern comfort cooling. The successful job applicant will be part of a maintenance crew consisting of air conditioning mechanics, plumbers, carpenters and building mechanics.
Position Requirements
1. Diagnose, Repair and Maintain HVAC Equipment
Respond to service requests (service memos).
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment, identify problems and source of complaints or issues.
Formulate and implement plans to repair equipment, resolve problems, issues and complaints.
Identify and perform needed maintenance for HVAC and related equipment and mechanical rooms (cleaning).
Maintain good communication between tenants and management and co-workers.
Assist with and or be responsible for chemical treatment programs as related to systems and equipment. This includes adding chemicals and testing system water and adjusting or repairing chemical pumps etc.
Evaluate equipment that needs replacement verses repairs.
2. Work with other team members and departments
Respond to building emergencies with other departments and personnel as needed to help resolve any issues that may arise.
Assist others as requested including outside personnel and contractors.
3. Additional Duties
Keep track of parts and supplies needed for repairs. Notify purchase order manager when parts are needed.
Keep time sheets up to date for weekly/daily work record.
Assume 24 hour “on call” duties on an approved rotation for HVAC Department.
Perform pick-up and delivery of department supplies and parts using the company truck, including loading and unloading.
Position Requirements
1. Formal Education
a. Required:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum 12 month training in accredited air conditioning and refrigeration trade school.
2. Knowledge & Experience:
a. Preferred:
2 to 3 years experience as an HVAC Service Technician strongly preferred
Commercial / Industrial experience.
3. Technical/Skill Requirement:
a. Required:
Universal Certification Refrigerant Transition & Recovery
Valid Drivers License
