This position is responsible for leading moderately complex raw material projects related to cost, supply assurance and raw material strategy opportunities within Global Finishes Raw Materials Group. The incumbent will have opportunities to demonstrate leadership, develop an expert status, and create companywide impact on raw material management.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
• Function under supervision. Work with key stakeholders from Technical, Marketing and Operations to design and execute raw material projects.
• Coordinate project activities cross divisionally with resources such as Analytical, Color and Application.
• Design and execute experiments, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
• Manage the timely completion of multiple projects at a time.
• Communicate detailed ideas concisely through email and/or technical writing.
• Host meetings. Summarize, present, and report project findings/conclusions to stakeholders and provide recommendations for actions path forward.
• Provide team support within Global Finishes raw material group and collaboration.
• May mentor other employees.
• Assist implementation and lead efforts related to the control of existing and new raw materials
• Serve as a raw material resource/expert for Global Finishes organization.
• Assist with EHRS on regulatory issues concerning Global Finishes raw materials.
• Adhere to company safety standards all the time; maintain safe operating procedures through complete knowledge of safety rules and lab procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. FORMAL EDUCATION:
a. Required:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline AND two semesters of general and organic Chemistry each. Degree in Polymers and Coatings is preferred.
b. Preferred:
• Degree in Polymers and Coatings
2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
a. Required:
• Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis
• Math knowledge
• Valid Driver’s License
b. Preferred:
• 0-3 years paint lab experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
• Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
• Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
• May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
• May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
• May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
• Work surfaces may include concrete.
• Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
• Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
• Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a four year Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
