Build vision and strategy for Computational Design project initiatives and processes with a focus on direct to manufacturing capabilities. Partner across Innovation, Design, Product and Manufacturing teams and external partners to deliver solutions. Build processes and tools that streamline the computational design process with NIKE’s various manufacturing outputs. Design complex algorithms based on mathematics and physics principles to create fully engineered innovative footwear and apparel concepts. Create multiple, rapid iterations of design concepts by modifying algorithm rules based on engineering principles. Collaborate with NIKE's Manufacturing Innovation team to conduct advanced manufacturing explorations using computational design methods and tools to create innovative manufacturing solutions. Leverage materials knowledge and partnerships within NIKE’s material organization to integrate computational designs with various methods of make from traditional factory construction to 3D printing. Lead the design and development of computational design software. Manage advanced technology project development process including timeline, budget, resources, legal contracts, and patents. Give detailed presentations to key stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, to educate on computational design methods and projects. Apply advanced product construction concepts to product development and partner with Category Design Teams to prototype those concepts using 3D tools. Connect with external partners on Computational Design and stay abreast of latest computational design technologies. Up to 20% travel, including international, required.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related field (foreign equivalent accepted). Experience: 7 years' progressive post-bachelor's experience as a Digital Innovator, Industrial Designer, or similar position. Skills/Requirements: 7 years' experience: 1) In product design in an innovation setting including conducting research, gathering consumer insights, setting creative vision, concepting and problem solving, strong aesthetics, and 3D digital file creation. 2) Product design to manufacturing utilizing software technology and advanced manufacturing capabilities to concept, design and manufacture physical consumer goods (e.g. SolidWorks or similar CAD software). 3) Working with external vendors, engineers, development and manufacturing to create new products and manufacturing methods. 4) Managing advanced technology projects from concept to prototyping to final manufactured deliverable. 2 years' experience: 5) Utilizing computational design to develop and advance new materials-based research to drive new apparel, footwear and sporting equipment designs; and integrating materials and manufacturing best-practices into design capabilities and scale for an organization. 6) Designing complex algorithms leveraging athletic and product data through coding in Rhino/Grasshopper to produce multiple iterations of desired design solutions. 7) Translating complex physics and natural biological phenomena into software algorithms and effectively programming these algorithms into design tools. 8) Applying computational design to advanced manufacturing including developing new software and hardware to support new digital fabrication capabilities. 9) Software engineering for the creation of visual design tools.
