This individual will collaborate with a team responsible for the design, installation, testing and turn-up of fiber optic networks for a government customer, as well as provide occasional support for AT&T Core organizations.
This individual will collaborate on plans for evolving the current architecture, support capacity and capability planning, interact with equipment vendors, evaluate new technology, and support proposal writing. In addition, this individual will provide required SMOPS and maintain detailed site documentation, such as rack elevation drawings, floor plans, and fiber protection schemes. This individual will be expected to develop a broad understanding of a complicated network and collaborate on the network evolution. This position requires overnight travel approximately five times a year, with durations typically ranging from one to five days Required Skills and Experience: 8 years’ experience in a central office, data center, or outside plant environments. Hands-on experience performing major hardware installations. Experience with Cisco and/or Ciena equipment. Proficiency in using Word, Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint. Strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and interact effectively with remote colleagues.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Required Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Poly
Desired: Hands-on experience with Calient, Polatis, Apcon, Lambda Unite, and/or Juniper equipment. Experience with SONET, Ethernet, and Network Management Protocols (e.g., TL1, SNMP).
